SDPI, ROUND-TABLE MEET ON RESOLVING CAST CENSUS CONFUSION

Bengaluru, Aug. 20: At this crucial juncture in the struggle for social justice

among communities in Karnataka, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) organized its second Round Table Conference in Bengaluru today. The objective was to address the confusions surrounding the upcoming state and national census, along with the simultaneous social, economic, and educational surveys, and to build consensus within the community.

Prominent social, political, and religious thinkers from across the state participated in the meeting, expressing their views and offering constructive suggestions on the steps to be taken moving forward.

The meeting resolved that, based on the principles of socialism and the Indian Constitution, all organizations, political leaders, and religious representatives should actively participate in organizing district-level meetings in the next stage. These meetings will aim to create awareness among marginalized and backward communities regarding their rights, overall development, and representation. It was also unanimously decided to form a subject-expert committee to conduct a detailed study on these issues.

Addressing the gathering, SDPI State President Abdul Majeed emphasized: “The Muslim community must actively and transparently participate in this census survey. If any confusion arises while recording caste identity, it is the primary responsibility of religious, social, and political leaders to resolve such issues.”

The program was conducted by Amjad Khan. Abrar Ahmad delivered the welcome address, and Afsar Kodlipete proposed the vote of thanks.

The meeting saw the participation of several eminent social, political, and religious leaders of the state, including Abdul Hannan, Maulana Ikram, Shaheed Ali Udupi, retired KAS officer Abdul Hameed, Prof. Nazneen Begum, Dr. Awaz Sharif, journalist Nazia Kauser, Dr. Zahida Khan, Razak Ustad, DMS State President A.J.
